JEET KUNE DO SINGAPORE
Sean Lim | Instructor of Jeet Kune Do

Hello, I’m Sean Lim. For fifteen years, I have dedicated myself to martial arts, with a foundation in Wing Chun, and experience in fencing and kickboxing.
Growing up, I was a sickly and weak child, often unable to participate in sports. This sense of inadequacy drove me to transform my life through martial arts.
Through dedication and resilience, I overcame physical, mental, and emotional limitations. Today, I am living proof that anyone can overcome their boundaries. We all have a chance to succeed; you just need to give yourself that opportunity.
PHILOSOPHY

If Jeet Kune Do is a hobby or casual interest for you, I may not be the right fit. If you often engage in debates about lineages or techniques, I may not be the best match either.
I am recognized for my focus and discipline in JKD, and I seek the same level of dedication from those I mentor. JKD requires hard work and effective mentorship—there are no shortcuts. Only a select few can sustain this level of practice. If you believe you are part of this committed group, we can work together.
MISSION

At the heart of my work lies a powerful question: How can Jeet Kune Do empower our lives?
Simplicity in Combat: I aim to simplify complex combat principles, identify the forces that shape success, debunk misconceptions, and clarify the principles that drive progress.
Application to Life: I focus on applying martial arts insights to everyday life, overcoming mental barriers, and mastering our habits.
My goal is to explore how martial arts can help us master and reinvent ourselves, ultimately empowering your martial arts journey and life.

TESTIMONIALS

As coach of the Olympic sport of fencing I have seen many individuals who aspire to be great fencers. And every once in a while I will come across individuals who possess a great passion, for this western martial art, a fair bit more than others. Sean Lim is one such example. Sean is talented, a fast learner, very disciplined in the art and always striving for perfection in every aspect of the sport. Sean has great potential, is tactically sound and fearless. Qualities a great fencer should possess. In such a short time of less than a year he has achieved great results in the competitions he has taken part in, locally and overseas. Congratulations to Sean for joining the National Fencing Team. All the best, Sean.

I've been training Jeet Kune Do with Sean for almost nine months. I wanted to learn a practical skill set that would also develop my mind and body. When I was first exposed to JKD in university, its philosophy "Be flexible like water" resonated deeply with what I believe in. After an introduction session, I signed up for classes with Sean. He is a highly skilled, knowledgeable, passionate, and patient instructor. He has a special ability to break down different aspects of the art into manageable pieces and teaches them in a clear, concise manner. Even as a female beginner, I was able to keep pace with the other male students in class. The knowledge he teaches isn't something you can learn from YouTube. Having a qualified instructor who can evaluate and correct your technique in real time speeds up your learning significantly.

Sean Lim is exceptionally focused on achieving excellence. What sets him apart from the many practitioners whom I have met over the years, is that he is not content with learning techniques. Rather, he learns techniques as a way of refining himself. Think about how you can go about acquiring different ways of doing push-ups. Does acquiring 50 different ways of doing push-ups make you a better person? Sean seeks to acquire a deep understanding about his body and mind, and the interaction between the two, through his practice. This ability to nurture himself, and to cultivate his own growth, is the mark of the true artist who is on the path towards unification.
Steven Sim

I've been attending Jeet Kune Do classes with Sean, and it has been an incredible experience. Sean is a knowledgeable and patient instructor who truly understands the art of Jeet Kune Do. His teaching style is clear, engaging, and tailored to all levels, making it easy to learn and grow in both skill and confidence. What stands out is Sean's passion for the art and his ability to bring out the best in each student. The classes are challenging yet rewarding, and I always leave feeling stronger, more focused, and motivated. If you're looking to learn effective martial arts in a supportive and professional environment, I highly recommend Sean's classes.

Sean is conscientious in his approach to martial training, always wanting to excel beyond his limit both physically and understanding. Open mind to absorb concept and principles of different martial arts system, in time a philosopher and martial artist in the making!
Ken Lau

Before I started training with Sean, I only intended to learn self-defense, believing that Jeet Kune Do would best help me in a realistic situation. However, four years into practice, it has greatly influenced me as a way of life more than just a martial art. The learning during training has influenced how I live and work, and what is taught is constantly evolving and changing - true to the principle of the intercepting fist. Sean not only simplifies the concepts but also translates them into relevant exercises and constantly adjusts them by injecting knowledge gained from his various experiences. What I have gotten in return since starting my journey is definitely more valuable than what I initially expected. I continue to grow as both a martial artist and as a person thanks to Sean's guidance.
